The Community

You meet every three months. Plenty happens in between, and right now there is nowhere to put it.

Launching October 2026. Registering your interest now costs nothing and holds your place at the founding rate.

What it is

A private members area for support workers across Yorke Peninsula. Not a public forum and not another mailing list. Somewhere the people who make referrals in this region can talk to each other between the quarterly interagency meetings.

  • Ask the network. Someone has almost always dealt with the situation in front of you, and right now there is no way to reach them until the next meeting.
  • Share what is on. Groups, drop-ins, information sessions, closures.
  • Flag changes early. When a program closes or a waitlist opens, the people who need to know find out that week instead of next quarter.
  • Keep the directory honest. Members are the ones who notice first when a listing has gone stale.

What it looks like inside

Four channels, one region, and everyone in it works in the sector.

Illustrative only. Every name and post below is invented, written to show how the space is meant to work. Nothing here is a real quote from a real worker or service.

Listing flagged

Rang the intake number on one of the Yorketown listings this morning and it's disconnected. Client was sitting with me at the time, which was awkward.

Hit the report button on the listing rather than emailing.

Thanks Jack. Rang them this morning, they changed intake numbers in March and it never got updated anywhere. New number is live on the listing now and it's marked checked today.

Listing updated 19 hours after it was flagged. Previously last confirmed July 2019.

Ask the network

Client in Moonta, mobility issues, can't get to Kadina and no transport. Needs help with a Centrelink review before the end of the month.

Is anyone doing outreach out that way, or does anyone know someone who is? Everything I can find looks Kadina based.

There's a visiting service that does Moonta on Thursdays, I'll message you the intake contact. Worth checking the listing filters by town, that's how I found them.

Heads up for anyone referring: one of the transport programs on the southern end has stopped taking new clients while funding is sorted out. Existing clients unaffected.

No date on when it reopens. Worth checking before you promise anything to a family.

Listing marked "not currently accepting clients". Flagged from this post.

The two green notes are the point. A worker finds something wrong, says so once, and the directory is corrected for everybody who searches it afterwards. That loop is why the community and the directory belong to each other.

Why it is separate from the directory

The directory answers "what exists and can I refer to it". The community answers "what is actually happening right now and who has dealt with this before". They are different problems and they need different tools.

It also means the directory stays open to everybody. Nothing that helps you find a service ever sits behind a login.

The directory stays free. Permanently.

The members area is the part that costs, and only because running it properly costs something.

What it costs
