How we keep listings current
Every listing on this site tells you when it was last checked. Here is exactly what that means and how it works.
The problem this exists to fix
Most of us fall back on the same statewide directory. It lists 14,439 organisations across South Australia. 299 of them are on Yorke Peninsula.
None of that is anyone's fault. There was never a way for a service to go in and correct its own entry. The information simply aged, quietly, while people kept referring clients to it.
Because a directory is only as good as the day it was last checked.
What the date on each listing means
Every listing carries a date and a state. Nothing on this site shows today's date unless somebody actually confirmed it today.

The organisation updated its own listing. This is the strongest state, because it came from the source.

Overdue
Neither has happened recently. The listing still shows, with its real age, flagged rather than quietly presented as current.
An overdue listing is not an error and it is not hidden. A directory that quietly drops anything it cannot verify is less useful, not more. What matters is that you can see the difference at a glance.
The quarterly cycle
Listings are worked through on a rolling quarterly basis. Anything that has not been confirmed inside that window moves to overdue automatically. No listing can sit there looking current because nobody got around to it.
Three ways a listing gets corrected
- The service claims it. Any organisation can take ownership of its own listings and update eligibility, intake contact, and whether it is taking clients. Free, and it takes about two minutes.
- We ring them. On the quarterly cycle.
- A worker flags it. If you ring a number from this site and it is dead, there is a report link on every listing. One click.
That third one is the important one. There are 289 services listed for Yorke Peninsula alone, delivered by 82 organisations. Across the regions we plan to cover that becomes a couple of thousand. No single person can ring a couple of thousand services four times a year. The version of this that survives is the one where the sector maintains it together.
What we have not confirmed yet
Many listings show to confirm against fields like cost, referral method and whether the service is currently accepting clients. That is not an oversight. The source data never captured those fields for this region, and they are exactly the ones that make a listing worth having.
Rather than guess, we leave them marked. They fill in as services claim their listings and as the quarterly cycle works through.
What we will never do
- Show a date nobody earned. A confirmed date means a person checked, not that a record was touched.
- Sell the badge. Paid listings go overdue exactly like free ones. Currency is earned, never bought.
- Charge a referring agency to be found. Not-for-profit listings are free, permanently.
